Fundamentals

I was working with my horses today, a herd of aged mares, and a couple of two year olds.

As I’m going through my little check list with the babies, getting ready to start them in the next few weeks, I’m deep in the fundamentals.

Buck taught me how to see the fundamentals as their final epitome of the maneuver, and traditional horsemanship has a purpose for those maneuvers.

The reined cowhorse sport gives us a pathway to mastery. A purpose to the maneuver being what it is, an appreciation of the craftsmanship that goes into a bridle horse.

That’s why I love reined cowhorse!
